The church was founded in 2008 by Rev. Jimnah Kabue who is an ordained minister by United Pentecostal Church of Kenya after graduating from Ministerial Training Centre.

United Pentecostal Church-Uthiru is a oneness Pentecostal church that believes that one must repent, be baptized “in the name of Jesus” and receive the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues to be saved as outlined in Acts 2:38
